Unless you’ve already started training for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, chances are you’ll get a bit bored with paddling end to end in your backyard swimming pool. A sunny day in the water is always more fun with some cool swimming pool toys and games to help pass the time. Here’s a look at a few of Neave Pools favorite swimming pool toys and games:
Swim noodle
It’s a flotation device. It’s a water spray-spout. It’s a good-natured weapon. Swim noodles are some of the most affordable and versatile swimming pool toys out there…and they’re nothing more than cylindrical pieces of foam!
Water gun
The editorial team at the gadget-enthusiast website Gizmodo is very serious about its water-gun culture, and they actually did a road test of 2012 models to determine which was best. Their pick: the Water Warriors Colossus, a dark horse over the perennial favorite, Super Soaker. They chose it for its old-school styling and a 75-ounce reservoir that pumps out water as far as 40 feet. Kids will love this true soaker, according to the site.
Giant beach ball
Go big or go home! This massive beach ball measures 12 feet in diameter. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s too big for that game of water volleyball. Why wouldn’t you need this in your pool-toy arsenal?
Cornhole
Just a basic beanbag toss? Never. This favorite summer game comes to the pool with a floating board and beanbags that won’t sink to the bottom either. And for those autumn afternoons when it’s too cool for a dip in the swimming pool, this version of the game works on land, too.
Water bicycle
You read that right. It’s a stationary bike that you ride in the pool. Channel your inner Lance Armstrong – with a bit of the Little Mermaid mixed in – and do some aquatic pedaling for one of the best workouts you’ve ever had. (The Navy uses it!) It’s rustproof, made from nylon and fiberglass. And, of course, it also comes out of the swimming pool.
Just for grownups
Adult swim isn’t just for the public pool. A floating bar will transport you to your own private tropical island, though you’ll have to add your own cabana boy. MyFloatingBar.com offers fully customizable bar sets that include floating coolers, pop-up canopies, and storage bags to keep the pieces contained when you’re not using them.
And if you’re in the mood for games, why not a friendly game of aquatic blackjack? Yes, they make floating Vegas-style gaming tables. And, of course, you can’t forget the floating playing cards!
